Wedding Invitations

The wedding invitations are another detail which can cost a lot or a little depending on your personal preference and how much time you are willing to spend on this.  Don't underestimate however how much time it will take to do it yourself.  There are so many other things that have to be done and this is one task that can certainly be delegated.  To keep costs down it is likely most couples will have to place some limit on the number of invitations sent.  Invited guests normally will come with a companion and often will bring children.  The decision is often a touchy one because certain individuals you may work with or have known in some social setting may be offended to not receive invitations.  That is unfortunate but limiting the number of guests is an area where one can easily save hundreds of dollars.  On the other hand anticipate that some invited guests even those who accept the invitation will for whatever reason not be able to make it.  So you can actually invite slightly more people than your target budget while avoiding the uneasiness of  offending certain individuals for not having been invited.  The wedding invitations should include the exact location of the wedding and reception, the date and time of the wedding, a small map indicating directions to the wedding location and how to get to the reception and a list of nearby hotels for out of town guests.  Within the invitation you can include a note stating that the gift registry is at a certain location.

In our case, we asked a friend to help prepare the invitations.  You will need to provide a final estimate of your invited guests count within the last week or so prior to the wedding.  Consequently you will have to follow up with the invitees who haven't responded.
