Engagement Ring

The engagement ring can be a very emotional moment for most women.  However, buying the ring without your girlfriend knowing requires a few precautions...

What is her ring size?  What style does she prefer?  Does your girlfriend prefer a solitaire or a ring with accompanying smaller diamonds?

Another idea is to go together to visit a jeweler and let her decide.  That way you can be sure she will leave with a ring she is happy with.  This option will come at a price, however :)

The main factors in a diamond selection are the cut, the color, the clarity of the stone and weight or carats.  One can sacrifice slightly on the color and clarity to obtain a larger carat stone. 

The proposal is a special moment.  Where should the big question be popped?  Of course it shold a special place but I would recommend that it be a place that you both know and can easily visit in the future as a remembrance of the day you decided to get married.
